In the framework of the contract between EREDA and the Ministry of Energy and Water of Angola to prepare National Wind and Solar Radiation maps Angola, EREDA has already started the installation of weather stations in the country. EREDA had already carried out the installation of five weather stations in previous projects with various Ministries of Angola. In fact, this factor was very important during the international tender for the Wind And Solar Atlas since EREDA was the only company with experience in this kind of services in the country.
Under this contract , EREDA has already developed the first mesoscale modeling and delivered to client the ZERO versions of Wind Atlas and Solar Radiation Atlas of the country. These studies were performed using the in-house computational cluster and WRF model. EREDA has been developing regional mapping and estimates and forecasts both onshore and offshore for more than two years with these tools.
The contract for the elaboration of the Wind and Solar Atlas will last for two years. Two more rounds of installation of weather stations are still to be carried out. The final stage of the project will consist of the adjustment and correction of zero version atlas.
